Grantee Event: Axé Fest
December 3, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
FreeAxé Fest is a community day of free movement classes hosted by The Capoeira Spot, featuring the Afro-Brazilian martial art of Capoeira, yoga, and Afro-Brazilian dance. Attendees can immerse themselves in art, culture, movement, music, and good vibrations all afternoon! This event is free and family friendly – open to kids and adults! Axé Fest attendees will start by getting warm with yoga taught by Darnell aka D Yoga Dude, who has 20+ years of experience teaching yoga as a certified instructor. The event then flows into Intro to Capoeira classes for kids and adults taught by Mestre Morcego. In these interactive classes, attendees will learn about the history and culture of Capoeira while learning the martial art’s five basic movements. Then, attendees will get to put what they learned in action with a Capoeira Roda (circle) along with The Capoeira Spot’s teachers and students. The event culminates in a celebratory mood with an Afro-Brazilian Dance class to live batucada drumming.
