Public Humanities Shareback & Info Session

Hear from three DC humanists who capture local stories and expand community knowledge, plus learn about grants and other support.
Do you have a story to tell, but aren’t sure how to get started? In this 90-minute session, you will hear from three storytellers who have produced public humanities projects with support from Community Grants. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about their work, ask questions of the panelists, and will also hear about upcoming grants and engagement opportunities from the DC History Center + HumanitiesDC.
What are the public humanities?
Public humanities work presents disciplines such as history, philosophy, ethics, and literature in community-based settings, prioritizing public engagement and participation. Examples of public humanities projects include: recording oral histories, written publications, walking tours, documentaries, exhibits, panel discussions, and more.
Who should attend?
Whether you’re already working on a project, have a kernel of an idea, or just want to learn more, all are invited to join! There will be opportunity for Q&A with panelists, and information available about upcoming funding opportunities.
