Breaking Ground: Mayfair/Paradise Community History Celebration

FreeCelebrate and honor Black Washington, DC residents driving affordable housing development in the 1940’s, including trailblazing architect Albert Irvin Cassell (1895–1969). Display the pride of being part of the legacy of Paradise Manor and Mayfair Mansions, the first housing developments in the District built by Black people for Black people. Gather with a historically marginalized community, residents of affordable housing, and help visitors appreciate the struggles and challenges faced when breaking new ground.
