KICKOFF EVENT! Salon Redux: In the Spirit of Georgia Douglass Johnson

September 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

You are invited to attend the launch of Salon Redux: In the Spirit of Georgia Douglas Johnson, a citywide public humanities project honoring DC’s literary and cultural history on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 6PM at the Howard University Writing Center. Inspired by Johnson?s iconic S Street Salon, where she hosted Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, May Miller and many others, this initiative invites DC residents to host small gatherings that foster dialogue, culture, and connection. At the kickoff, the official toolkit will be unveiled. Let’s come together, honor the past and spark conversations for today.
