The Director of Programs will lead HumanitiesDC’s program creation and implementation including its grantmaking, public programs and programmatic partnerships in line with the organization’s mission, strategic goals and planned growth. They will work closely with the Executive Director and other Directors to design and implement stellar long and short-term programming and projects that creatively increases all District residents’ ability to participate in the humanities. The Director of Programs is broadly responsible for cultivating relationships and partnerships that ensure that programs goals and objectives are achieved and HumanitiesDC meets its duty in being a model and leader of the humanities locally and beyond. With the Executive Director, they will manage a team including the Grants Manager, DC Oral History Collaborative Manager, Program and Grants Coordinators, and programming related consultants and fellows.
Additional responsibilities include supporting the rest of the HumanitiesDC team and organizational needs, including but not limited to helping shape the organization’s culture, engaging in (and occasionally leading) cross-organizational projects and activities, building an external network of partners, and regularly participating in organizational events.
The position will be based primarily at the HumanitiesDC office. The position is a Monday through Friday schedule designed to allow for regularly working and/or attending weekend and evening activities.
