HumanitiesDC announces the Patsy Fletcher Cultural Heritage Award. The awards reception will take place at the Arts Club of Washington (2017 I St., NW) on Wednesday, September 4th from 6pm to 8 pm. The Patsy Fletcher Cultural Heritage Award will recognize four individuals who have made significant contributions to the cultural landscape of Washington, DC. Named after Patsy Fletcher ,who passed away in 2019, for her tireless efforts to protect and preserve the unique African American culture and history of Washington, DC.. “HumanitiesDC is aware of the ever changing landscape of Washington, DC and the need to celebrate our cultural heroes.” Joy Austin, Executive Director.” We are thrilled to have such a diverse group of awardees who represent the rich tapestry of the city we call home.”
The inaugural group of honorees are:

- Willie L. Leftwich
- Stanley Ross
- Therrell C. Smith

Each Cultural Heritage Awardee will receive a cash award of up to $1,000. The cash prize may be accepted as a gift, or directed to a charity of the awardees’ choice. The honorees were selected by HumanitiesDC for the cultural footprint they have made and continue to make in Washington, DC communities.
