DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the final weeks of hometown DC! In mid-September\, neighborhood installations from across the District will be brought together at the Martin Luther King\, Jr. Memorial Library. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nExperience the complete exhibit celebrating Washington\, DC as our hometown from Sept. 15 through Oct. 5. \nJoin us on September 16 in the MLK Library Auditorium for a special closing performance by the Verbal Gymnastics Theater Company. This interactive event will celebrate and highlight oral histories from the project and stories shared by audience members. SUMMARY:DC Oral History Collaborative: What comes after the interview?
DESCRIPTION:Oral History does not end once the mics are off. This core DC Oral History Collaborative workshop will help participants understand what oral historians do when the interviews are complete. We will discuss transcription and indexing\, the importance of narrator feedback and ongoing consent. Additionally\, the session will use case studies to explore ways oral historians and project directors have shared interviews back with their communities and with the public. What considerations are necessary when creating interpretive works like films\, exhibits\, digital humanities projects and curricula?
