Grab a libation and join us for a virtual Happy Hour event featuring some of the nations funniest comedians!
This discussion will present a humorous and historical account of DC’s overlooked, yet extraordinarily fertile breeding ground of producing the nations top comedic talent – and why few actually realize it!
In partnership with Humanitini DC & moderated by DC’s own sensation, Tommy Taylor Jr. (HBO), this panel features legendary celebrity comedians Tony Woods (Chapelle’s Show) & Tony Rock (CBS’s Living Biblically) – also local comedian and comedy curator Jack Coleman (Capital Laughs). We will discuss why Washington, DC might produce the most notable comedians per capita in the country? Why DC isn’t readily known as being a hotbed for comedy…and the history and environment that has fostered such great comedians.
DC has born and bred many of the most famous comedians in the world! Is this a coincidence or a comedic contagion in the DC air? Recognizable names from Dave Chappelle, to Martin Lawrence; Whitney Cummings to Wanda Sykes; Patton Oswalt to rising talent from Yvonne Orji (HBO), Jermaine Fowler (Showtime), and Rory Scovel (NBC) all hail from the DC area – they each developed and sharpened their comedic talent…and eventually left to flourish…but why did they need to?
