Featuring: Kamilah Thurmon, Beatrice Davis-Williams, and Roger Glass
The Davis Center, a landmark institution in Ward 4, has instilled a life-long love of dance, music, and the arts in generations of Washingtonians. In 2019, the 50th anniversary of the Center’s founding, Kamilah Thurmon launched an oral history project aimed at documenting its story and that of its founder Beatrice Davis-Williams. For this month’s DCOHC Coffee Chat, Thurmon will be joined by narrators Davis-Williams and Roger Glass to talk about the stories and narratives the project revealed. Through the voices of former students, parents, and community members, the Davis Center oral history project documents true community icons in both the dance school and its eponymous founder.
The program is free; registration is required. Registration closes at 10am on Saturday, November 20, 2021.
